Etching: Pitting of the pool surface.

Probable cause: Exposed marcite to acidic, caustic or soft conditions.

What we do to repair it: Properly remove the damaged or aged paint and marcite and apply epoxy coating

Marcite degradation: When surface cracks or pitting is apparent

Probable cause: The paint has failed and exposed the marcite surface to acidic, caustic or soft conditions for an excessive period of time..

What we do to repair it:. Properly remove the damaged or aged paint, repair cracks, fill the etching with epoxy gel and apply epoxy coating.

Water loss: When make-up water is exceeding past history or seems excessive.

Probable cause: Very common in multi surface pools, ie, fiberglass/concrete, acrylic/concrete. Erosion of marcite around jets, returns, skimmers, or other after market accessory (see above). The joint between unlike surfaces requires recaulking. At the time of this publishing, there is not a caulk or grout that is neither impervious to shrinkage, pool chemicals or water leeching.

What we do to repair it: Remove the caulk, fill voids and apply epoxy coating.

Blistering: Lumps and bumps in fiberglass pool wall.

Probable cause: The failure of the fiberglass surface and absorption of moisture into the first few layers of fiber glass.

What we do to repair it: Grind smooth the surface irregularities, mechanically dry, and fill the damaged surface. Then apply epoxy coating.

Cracks to Fiberglass or Acrylic walls: No definition required

Probable cause: Improperly backfilled or failure due to water leak or seep to the pool surface.

What we do to repair it: Back fill if possible, usually not. Mechanically spread the pool walls. Apply a woven mat or long strand fiber glass extending 50X the width of the crack, grind smooth to blend, then apply epoxy coating..

How long will my pool have to be down?

This question is answered with significant weather dependancy. Under "Normal" conditions, 70 degrees with less than 50% R.H. your immersion time will be 3-4 days.
